EBA AJAX Grid 2.7

November 2nd, 2005

After a few little problems we have released the latest incremental changes for our AJaX Grid control. Most prominently we have added a row formula cell type, multiline text area cell type, calendar/date picker cell type and integrated summary row for summing numeric column values.

Check out the Nitobi AJaX Grid free trial in ASP, PHP or JSP. Stay tuned for version 3 which will be coming out in Beta very shortly and should prove to be uber kick ass!

Too bad you dont offer cross-browser support. IE centric implementations are either lazy or arrogant or both.

Hey Phil, its good to hear some good open source / Firefox rhetoric! It was to be expected I guess :)

Having said that, being a small business we are actually not controlled by either arrogance or lack of motivation but paying the bills in fact its dead easy to understand our choice here since over 80% of our target market is IE based and our products were originally developed with IE in mind since it was the only browser that supported XMLHTTP in 2000. So we did no start building these products when AJaX became popular and, unlike many others, had these products when there was only IE with AJaX support and now we are in a transition period and cannot react as fast as the bleeding edge, working all night, free software types that are now jumping on the AJaX band wagon. It is also interesting to look at how big a job testing is when releasing a commercial product especially when we want it to work on every version of Firefox (of which there are many if you look at 1.0.0 to 1.4.12) which have slight differences between them all - even between the same versions but optimized and regular builds.

That being said, have no fear since version 3 will be cross browser plus have lots of other cool new features.
