I ♥ Internet Explorer

July 25th, 2007

Yes it’s true, my love affair with Firefox has fizzled away - we will never have the same hot romance of yesteryear.

Alas, I have had enough of Firefox stealing my memory with wreckless abandon.

The only thing that is keeping me on Firefox is my unabiding love for Firebug. However, for some of my everyday browsing I am making the switch back to IE <sob/>.

You’re kidding, right? IE 7.0 uses many of the features
first used in Firefox and other Mozilla programs, and
doesn’t do it as well as the guys who originally wrote
the code for all that stuff. Firefox has it all over IE
like a tent. It’s more secure, more frequently updated,
and has more options and add-ons. What’s not to love?

Why not give Opera or Safari a try? The both work on Windows.

You underestimate the power of the dark side.

say it ain’t so, say it ain’t so!

    what about Safari on Windows?

  5. Daniel Steigerwald Says:

That memory consumption not comes from browser. Try to disable some extensions, e.g. FireBug is big glutton.

yes I agree that Firebug may be causing some problems - I know that it regularly (every 10 seconds or so) makes the browser momentarily lock up :(

Interestingly I have been pretty annoyed by all the updates to Firefox since I got V2 as well. Practically every day I load it up and it takes forever since it has to install some new updates.

Don’t get me wrong here - IE has its problems like the positioning of the back / refresh buttons in V7. Who ever came up with that should be shot!

I will try removing some extensions - though I don’t have that many.

    mmmmmm the dark side …
