Nitobi UI Makes Data Management and Viewing Simple for Jistik’s CRE Customers

Jistik‘s Chargeback Recovery Environment (CRE) helps manufacturers and wholesalers recover invalid chargebacks and deductions. A chargeback occurs when a retailer sends an item back from the store to the wholesaler. This happens all the time for a variety of reasons. For instance, the item may have arrived damaged, or the manufacturer might have sent the wrong color or style. Or, more likely, a consumer has changed their mind and returns the item. To make sure that both the item and the funds end up back in the right place after a return, manufacturers and wholesalers use Jistik’s CRE to track all the relevant data and recover funds. Here’s how it works.

Sales data, like invoices, bills of landing and purchase orders, is imported into Jistik’s CRE in a variety of formats such as XML, CIT or GMAC. Once the data arrives, it’s allocated to a collector. Jistik’s application automatically scans chargebacks with an algorithm that determines which violation claims have the greatest likelihood of recovery. Collectors then view all available information around a particular chargeback or deduction and start the recovery process.

With so much information to parse and convey, Jistik hired Nitobi to help build a user-friendly interface for the CRE. By tailoring its Ajax-powered components, Nitobi built an intuitive data organization structure and an easy-to-use interface for viewing large amounts of data. The full-featured Web 2.0, hosted application incorporates modified versions of Nitobi Grid, Calendar and Call Out. The application is developed using PHP on top of the Codeigniter MVC engine with MySQL as the primary storage engine. The system is designed to support up to 200,000 chargebacks, or records.

Nitobi implemented various types of filtering and sorting to make it easy for collectors to browse and attach relevant documentation to files. The application is built around a grid display–using Nitobi Grid–where users filter and refine data to get their desired outcomes. Once the data is aggregated, the collections agent can select all the items at once and run a ‘batch’ process that refines the data even further. Once a chargeback is successfully completed, the user’s calendar, run by Nitobi’s Calendar component, is populated with the accomplishment.

Using Nitobi Grid and Data Services, much of the chargeback data is pre-fetched and cached so that the user doesn’t have to wait for the application to catch-up. Nitobi achieved this by funneling all xhr requests through a client side caching engine and routing them through a rendering template. In fact, the application gets faster over time once all the data is fetched because only updates need to be sent back to the server.

Nitobi components help to enhance Jistik’s application by streamlining the work flow and displaying the data in an intuitive, clear way. By dramatically speeding-up and simplifying the chargeback recovery process, manufacturers and wholesalers can recover funds that otherwise might get written off simply as a cost of doing business.
