What is per-developer licensing?

This means you must have a named license for each developer who will install the component on his or her machine. When you purchase licenses you must name each developer who will be covered under the license.

Do you have Educational pricing?

Yes, we offer a special discount to qualifying educational institutions. Email [email protected], or call us to inquire.

May I distribute the component with my software?

Yes you may distribute the component as a part of your application provided:

  • The component is not the basis for creating a product that provides the same, or substantially the same, functionality as any Nitobi product.
  • Your product will not be used in design time. Ie: your product does not include any sort of development API or development tools, and your licensing does not include any provision to modify or allow modification of your product.
  • You include only the encoded, or encrypted version of the source code.

If any of the above is true, you will need to enter into a Value Added Reseller agreement with Nitobi (also known as OEM). We offer substantial unit discounts to VAR's.

May I also install it on my production server?

Yes you may install the component on multiple production servers provided no development by other developers than the named developers is taking place there. If your server is a shared server this condition only applies to the particular "account" controlled by the named developer. In other words, its fine just as long as you are not using other developers than named developers to work with the component.

When do I need a VAR license?

You require Value Added Reseller licensing if you:

  • Intend to distribute any API documentation with your product (either for the Nitobi component or your product alone).
  • Intend to provide design-time support or licenses for your product or for the Nitobi component.
  • Intend to sell the Nitobi component by itself or as a branded component of your product / service.
  • Are including the Nitobi component in a product that provides substantially the same functionality as the Nitobi component.
