| We have a requirement to be able to copy from a single cell (either in the grid or from an Excel spreadsheet), and then paste that value into multiple selected cells in a single grid column. I am working with the trial version and need to be able to accomplish this before we can purchase an Enterprise license. I have tried the getSelectedRows() method, but that doesn't work unless the grid is setup for multirowselectenabled, and if multirowselectenabled=true, the whole row gets selected on a ctrl-click. I can't have the whole row selected - just column cells. I need to paste from a single cell to a group of contiguous cells in a column. Does anyone have an idea on how to do this? Is it possible? Tia. |

| Well as many have looked but nobody has responded, I guess this is a hopeless cause. Does anyone know of another vendor's grid that can possibly do this? I've looked at Backbase and Zapatec already. |

Active Widgets provide a nice framework with windows like look and feel to its components. You might have luck using this framework.
Quite often Nitobi's support apparatus is a bit slow in its response, and you might have to nag them a bit (by updating your support post, sending emails to [email protected] with references to your posts, perhaps even calling them). They answear most of the time, but I suspect that the company is desperatly understaffed.
We evaluated both zapotec and Active Widgets before deciding on nitobi. We found that zapotec was a bit bloated for our purpose. At the moment I cannot quite remember why we didn't choose ActiveWidgets, I think it had something to do with the price on the product. |

Sorry I didn't respond here Jack - we were in contact with you by email so I didn't duplicate that. For the benefit of anyone else: you can't directly overload the paste() functionality without editing the source code - you can make a helper function to capture a selection, and then another function to repeat the paste throughout the selection (perhaps in the onafterpasteevent). It requires a few actions on the user's part, so it's not ideal.
Thanks,
Andrew |
